December 2018 - WHAT EXACTLY IS EGGNOG?

Many of us look forward to the holiday season when we see the cartons of eggnog line the shelves at our local grocery store. While some smile with delight, others turn up their nose. 

But what is this drink with the funny name and where did it come from? Some say “nog” comesfrom “noggin,” meaning a wooden cup, or “grog,” a strong beer. By the late 18th century, the combined term “eggnog” stuck.
